Lovely Sail

 Hear now, my sorry so long
 Spoken gallingly ironically;
 Inadequate lyrics to a cruel, cruel song…
 Alas, no elegy can there be
 That grasps the bitter harmony!

 Oh how I long in vain- oh how I wish
 My listless letters to embrace;
 To comfort softly, and to kiss
 Tear streaked cheek upon pretty face,
 And capture salty sample of departing grace…

 So I curse rhetoric with hopeless howl!
 And beg the deaf devil my soul to pay
 Since neither careful consonant nor vexing vowel
 Plant seed in soul I yearn to lay
 Before pending dawn yields lacking, lonely day...

 Yet! My heart, still rejoice the feeling so strong
 It champions word and rhyme and hymn and song!
 For lovely sail, with such fine sentiment,
 Will with destiny strain to return to whom the love was sent.
